Pablo Tellez and Dekel Bar’s Impressive Run Ends Just Short of Glory at Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships

Pablo Tellez and Dekel Bar’s Impressive Run Ends: Pablo Tellez and Dekel Bar showed remarkable skill and determination on their way to the 2024 Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships finals. The Men’s Doubles duo started strong, dominating their Round of 32 match against Gabriel Joseph and Donald Young. The pair finished with a comfortable victory, scoring 11-3, 11-8, showing their control and precision from the very beginning.

Dominating the Round of 16

Their momentum continued in the Round of 16, where they faced Blaine Hovenier and Noe Khlif. Tellez and Bar powered through, winning 11-5, 11-3, further solidifying their place as contenders in the tournament.

Their seamless communication and sharp shots kept their opponents off balance, allowing them to advance without much resistance.

A Tense Quarter-Final Battle

The Quarter-Finals presented a tougher challenge. Tellez and Bar faced off against Jaume Martinez Vich and Tyson McGuffin in a match that tested their resolve. Despite losing the first set 11-6, the duo bounced back in the next two, winning 11-4 and 11-3.

Their ability to adjust mid-match was a key factor in their success, as they quickly adapted their strategy to neutralize McGuffin and Vich’s strengths.

Semi-Final Setback but Determined Performance

In the semi-finals, the stakes were higher, and the competition fiercer. CJ Klinger and Quang Duong, no strangers to tough matches, presented a formidable challenge.

After a hard-fought first set, which saw Tellez and Bar lose to their opponents 14-12, the next two sets were more straightforward, with Tellez and Bar securing the wins 11-1, 11-5. While they dominated the final two sets, the first was a reminder of the resilience required at this level of competition.

The Championship Match: A Narrow Defeat

The final proved to be a step too far for Tellez and Bar, who found themselves up against Riley Newman and Hayden Patriquin, an incredibly well-rounded pair.

Despite their best efforts, Tellez and Bar were outpaced and outplayed in each of the three sets, which ended 11-4, 11-6, 11-8. Newman and Patriquin’s consistent and aggressive play left little room for Tellez and Bar to build any momentum.
