Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau’s Key Victory: The ATP Pool in women’s doubles took a dramatic turn on the third day of the CIBC PPA Tour Finals as Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau staged a successful comeback after Thursday’s setback. The duo secured a crucial 11-1, 7-11, 11-5 victory over Tina Pisnik and Parris Todd, earning a spot in the semifinals.
Waters and Parenteau Find Their Rhythm
The key to Waters and Parenteau’s success was getting back to their basics—playing aggressively and enjoying the game.
“We just needed to play our game, be aggressive, and just have fun out there.” – (Parenteau)
With this victory, both teams finished 2-1 in pool play, but only the top two teams could advance. The final standings were determined by point differential.
Tiebreaker Decides the Fate of the ATP Pool
Though three teams finished with a 2-1 record in the ATP Pool, Waters and Parenteau took the top spot, thanks to a superior point differential of 24. Jorja Johnson and Lacy Schneemann, who also won their match against Mary Brascia and Meghan Dizon earlier in the day, claimed second place with a differential of 11.
