An Unbeaten Run Until Pool Play
Entering the tournament undefeated, Staksrud and Patriquin had already claimed victories in Sacramento and Virginia Beach. However, their journey to the final wasn’t without a hiccup.
In pool play, they suffered their first loss to Tyson McGuffin and Andrei Daescu, but that setback did little to derail their momentum. Despite the defeat, they managed to extend their streak of winning every tournament they’ve played together.
“There’s a lot of effort put in behind the scenes, a lot of drilling and working hard to be able to have these types of results.” – (Staksrud)
A Silver Lining for Johnson and Tardio
For Johnson and Tardio, this was their first time teaming up at a PPA event. While they didn’t capture the title, the pair left the tournament with much to be optimistic about, knowing their partnership still has room to grow.
“We’ve been talking about playing together for more than three years, so I’m happy to finally partner with J-dub.” – (Tardio)
Looking ahead, he expressed confidence about their future, saying,
“I think we’re gonna play a couple of tournaments in 2025, and hopefully we’ll do better than silver.” – (Tardio)
