Much Awaited PPA Daytona Beach Open Kicks Off from December 18

The PPA Daytona Beach Open is set to take place from December 18 to December 22, 2024, drawing a competitive field with 1,318 players already registered. This event offers a chance for amateur players to compete alongside the sport’s top professionals on Championship Court, where the leading figures in pickleball, including #1 female Anna Leigh Waters and #1 male Ben Johns, will battle for major payouts.

Amateur Players

Amateur players will have the opportunity to participate in matches on the Championship Court, competing in various skill-level categories. For a full description of each event, players are encouraged to visit the tournament’s event page.

Spectators

The PPA Tour, renowned for exclusive contracts with elite players, promises an exciting viewing experience with the world’s best pickleball players. Spectators can watch thrilling matches and enjoy the action on Championship Court.

PPA Tour Camp

A two-day 3.0/4.0 PPA Tour Camp is available on December 17 and 18, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm each day. Priced at $400 per person, the camp includes six hours of instruction from PPA professionals, a courtside ticket for a day of choice, and a Pickleball Central offer with 20% off apparel and 10% off paddles.

Due to limited space, the event enforces a strict refund and cancellation policy. Full refunds are available up to 30 days before the camp, while partial refunds apply between 15-30 days before the event. Cancellations within 14 days are non-refundable.

Event Format

The tournament will feature varied formats depending on the skill level and the number of registered teams or players.

  • For skill levels 5.0 and 4.5, the Double Elimination format with No Come-Around will be used, where teams that lose cannot return to compete for the gold medal.
  • For other skill levels, the event will use a round robin format with Playoffs, depending on the number of registered teams.

For Junior PPA events, with eight or more teams, a Double Elimination format will apply, while smaller events will feature round robin play. Senior Open events will follow a Double-elimination format, with the best teams battling for the gold medal.

Pro Format

The registration deadline for pro events is December 10, 2024. Qualifying rounds for Men’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, and Mixed Doubles will take place on December 18, based on the number of registrants.

Contracted players may receive automatic entry into the main draw, while non-contracted players will compete in qualifying rounds. The Main Draw will feature single-elimination matches, with the losers of the semifinals playing for the bronze medal on Championship Sunday.

Moneyball PPA Bracket

The $1,000 Moneyball PPA Bracket, a co-ed event, invites players with ratings of 5.5 and under to compete. Players must register with a partner, who must confirm their registration within 36 hours. The event will follow a Double Elimination format, with all games to 11, win by two.

The registration fee is $75 per person, and the event is limited to 16 teams. The Moneyball bracket is open to Senior Pro, Junior Pro, and Amateur players who meet the criteria. However, players cannot participate in the Moneyball event if it overlaps with other scheduled events on the same day.
