Leigh Waters Makes a Bold Comeback at Daytona Beach Open 2024, What’s Next for Her?

Leigh Waters Makes a Bold Comeback: Leigh Waters will make her highly anticipated return to the PPA Tour at the Daytona Beach Open later this month, marking nearly a year since her last competition. After taking a break from the sport due to a torn ACL in 2022, Leigh is back on the courts, reuniting with her daughter, Anna Leigh Waters, for Women’s Doubles. The duo ranked No. 2, is expected to make waves at the event. Additionally, Leigh will pair up with Dillon Segur in Mixed Doubles as the No. 24 seed.

Return to the Courts After Injury

Leigh Waters has been one of the most influential figures in pickleball, especially in recent years as her daughter, Anna Leigh, has risen to prominence. Together, they won 8 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze medals before Leigh’s injury sidelined her. Since then, Anna Leigh has teamed up with Catherine Parenteau and Anna Bright in Women’s Doubles, finding success with both. Parenteau, however, will not be competing at the Daytona event.

During her recovery, Leigh focused on coaching, particularly guiding Anna Leigh to several wins. It seemed like Leigh might not return to competitive play, but earlier this year, she surprised fans by partnering with Anna Leigh at the 2024 Minto U.S. Open, where they claimed the Women’s Doubles title.
