As a designated “Golden Ticket” event by USA Pickleball, the Sacramento Open offers gold medal winners a unique chance to pre-register for the 2025 Biofreeze USA Pickleball National Championships in November. Professional players will compete for a share of a $100,000 prize pool during the nationally televised event, elevating the stakes for competitors.
Venue Highlights: Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex
Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex has hosted APP Tour events for the past two years, becoming a familiar venue for competitors and fans. Last year’s tournament featured 17-year-old Jorja Johnson, who made headlines by winning the triple crown. Ken Herrmann, Founder of the Association of Pickleball Players, expressed excitement about returning to Sacramento, saying,
Northern California holds a special place in our hearts and has one of the best pickleball communities you’ll ever find. We can’t wait to host you all in February for the third year of the APP Sacramento Open. See you there!” – (Ken Herrmann)
APP’s Mission: Fostering a Competitive Community
The Association of Pickleball Players provides opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to compete in high-quality events. Since its founding in 2019, the APP has established itself as the only pro and amateur pickleball tour officially sanctioned by USA Pickleball.
The association has also opened The Fort, an official headquarters and training center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, further supporting player development and community engagement.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Pickleball
The 2025 APP Tour schedule promises to show pro and amateur competitions while supporting youth development programs and charitable initiatives. The Sacramento Open is not only a chance for players to compete but also an opportunity to strengthen the growing pickleball community in Northern California.
As this event approaches, anticipation builds for a week of competitive matches and community engagement, highlighting the sport’s ongoing growth and popularity.
