Route 66 Paddle Battle Returns: The 4th Annual Route 66 Paddle Battle is returning to Meador Park in Springfield, Missouri, this October, drawing pickleball enthusiasts from across the region to compete in a two-day, outdoor tournament. Set for October 12-13, the event promises to be an action-packed weekend for all players and spectators, as pickleball continues to grow in popularity nationwide.
Hosted on 12 permanent courts at Meador Park, the pickleball tournament features a round-robin format, with players guaranteed at least four games. Registration costs $50, and for those looking to compete in both days of the event, that fee includes participation in Men’s & Women’s Doubles on Saturday and Mixed Doubles on Sunday. A senior scramble option is available for participants aged 50 and over.
The tournament uses DUPR ratings for placement, ensuring competitive matches for all skill levels. Brackets are divided by age and skill, with players having the option to compete in a higher skill bracket or younger age group. Planned skill divisions range from beginner (2.5-2.99) to advanced (4.5+), offering something for everyone. Additionally, participants in the 50+ events can earn points toward prizes through the US Senior Pickleball (USSP) certification.
Saturday’s competition kicks off at 9 a.m. with Men’s and Women’s Doubles, including the Senior Scrambles. On Sunday, Mixed Doubles takes the spotlight with matches also beginning at 9 a.m. While exact bracket times will be released a week before the tournament, each team will be placed in age and skill-based groups.
Meador Park, located at 2500 S Fremont Ave, provides an outdoor, non-covered setting with 12 permanent nets on asphalt courts. Players are encouraged to bring their chairs, shade tents, and coolers as there are ample parking and restroom facilities on-site. Franklin X40 balls will be used throughout the event.
In the event of inclement weather, every effort will be made to play games as scheduled, though adjustments may be necessary. Refunds will be provided only if an entire event is canceled due to weather.
Registration for the Route 66 Paddle Battle closes on October 6. Early registrants will receive a free tournament shirt, and those looking for accommodations can take advantage of discounted rates at the Hilton Garden Inn, the event’s preferred lodging partner.
