The IceBreaker Classic Pickleball Tournament is officially on the horizon, set to take place from January 31 to February 2, 2025, at the CBRC Health and Fitness Center in Richland, Washington. Players from all skill levels are invited to register for the inaugural event, which will feature 18 indoor courts with semi-permanent net systems placed on outdoor hard court surfaces.
Registration and Fees
Registration for the IceBreaker Classic opens on October 23, 2024, at 8:00 PST, with a registration fee of $50.00. This price will increase to $60.00 after November 30, 2024, so early sign-up is encouraged.
Players will have until January 24, 2025, at 11:55 PST to secure their spots before registration closes. The venue is CBRC Health and Fitness, located at 1776 Terminal Drive in Richland, WA. Players will be able to access free parking, with no additional fee required.
Pickleball Tournament Format
The pickleball event spans three days, each featuring different events. The Men’s Singles and Women’s Doubles will kick off the competition on Friday, while Mixed Doubles takes center stage on Saturday. The final day, Sunday, will feature Women’s Singles and Men’s Doubles. The tournament follows USA Pickleball’s official rules and regulations, and only USA Pickleball-approved equipment will be allowed.
All open event fees will go directly into the prize pool, making this an exciting opportunity for competitive players. The prize pool increases as the brackets grow, so participants are encouraged to sign up early to maximize the payout.
Registration Guidelines and Partner Updates
As a reminder, players are required to register with a partner. If a registered player’s partner fails to sign up, they will be moved to the waitlist seven days after registration. Once both players have registered, teams will be moved into the draw.
If a player needs to replace their partner, the replacement must meet the qualifications for the same skill and age group, though players can replace a partner with someone who has a higher skill level or a younger age group.
Brackets will be finalized by the tournament director, who retains the discretion to modify them, even adding teams up until the bracket starts. Players should also note that no bracket changes will be allowed within 14 days of the tournament start date.
Refunds and Cancellations
Participants who need to cancel can receive a full refund minus a $25 cancellation fee if they withdraw before January 17, 2025. After this date, no refunds will be issued.
If players find themselves on the waitlist but are later moved into the event, they won’t be charged until they are officially added. Refunds will be processed 7-10 days after the tournament concludes.
Prize Money Up for Grabs
Open divisions will feature a player-supported prize pool, with all event fees going directly toward the pool. As brackets grow in size, the prize money increases, encouraging players to register early for a chance at a bigger payout.
