Alex Barré-Boulet was born in Montmagny, Quebec, Canada. Growing up in a region known for its passion for hockey, he was exposed to the sport at a young age. His early involvement in hockey began at the midget level, where he played for both the Rive-Sud Express Midget Espoir and Lévis Commandeurs in the Quebec Junior AAA Hockey League from 2012 to 2014. His talent was evident early on, leading to a late-round draft pick to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the 2013 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) entry draft. Barré-Boulet developed as an offensive player, showcasing his skills and determination on the ice.

During his time with the Drummondville Voltigeurs, Barré-Boulet made significant strides in his career. After signing with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Alex Barré-Boulet began his professional career with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. He made an immediate impact, scoring the game-winning goal in his debut and finishing the season as the top-scoring rookie in the AHL with 68 points. His impressive performance earned him the Dudley “Red” Garrett Memorial Award as the most outstanding rookie. The following season, he continued to build on his success, recording 40 points in just 43 games before the All-Star break. Barré-Boulet made his NHL debut on February 22, 2021, and scored his first NHL goal on April 25, 2021, solidifying his place in the league.
