Alim McNeill was born on May 11, 2000, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended Jesse O. Sanderson High School, where he played linebacker and running back. Path to American Football

McNeill played college football at North Carolina State University from 2018 to 2020. During his time with the NC State Wolfpack, he made a significant impact on the field, accumulating 77 tackles, 10 sacks, one interception, and one touchdown. His outstanding performance in 2020 earned him recognition as a First-team All-American and First-team All-ACC, showcasing his skills as a top defensive player. Early Career (2021-Present)

Alim McNeill was drafted 72nd overall by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract with the team on May 13, 2021. McNeill quickly established himself as a key player for the Lions, entering the 2023 season as the starting defensive tackle. In Week 8 of the 2023 season, he recorded two sacks in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders, marking his first career multi-sack game. However, his season took a turn when he suffered a knee injury in Week 13, leading to his placement on injured reserve. He was activated again on January 6, 2024.

Breakthrough (2024-2025)

On October 15, 2024, McNeill signed a four-year contract extension worth $97 million with the Detroit Lions, solidifying his position within the team. In Week 6 of the 2024 season, he recorded two sacks in a dominant victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
