Allyson “Ally” Simpson (born December 20, 2000) is an American professional ice hockey player who is a defenceman for the New York Sirens of the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL). She played college ice hockey at Colgate and was drafted 16th overall by New York in the 2024 PWHL Draft. Simpson is known for her strong defensive skills and has made significant contributions to her teams throughout her career.
Early Life and Background
Allyson Simpson was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Frisco, Texas. She moved to Minnesota at the age of 13 to pursue her passion for ice hockey. During her time in Minnesota, she attended Shattuck-Saint Mary’s in Faribault, where she played ice hockey for five seasons. In addition to hockey, Simpson also participated in ultimate frisbee, golf, and lacrosse. As a senior in 2019, she recorded eight goals and 29 assists in 43 games, showcasing her talent and versatility on the ice. She played a crucial role in helping her team, the Sabres, win national championships in 2015, 2016, and 2018.
