Beau Brieske Bio
Beau Conner Brieske (born April 4, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Wears jersey No. 4 for the Tigers and has been a member of the organization since being selected in the 2019 MLB draft. Made his major league debut in April 2022 and has pitched in the big leagues in each subsequent season, working primarily as a starter early in his career before shifting into a relief role.
Early Life and Background
Beau Conner Brieske was born on April 4, 1998, in Gilbert, Arizona. He grew up in the same East Valley community that produced several other professional athletes, and the warm Arizona climate gave him year-round access to baseball.
Brieske attended Perry High School in Gilbert, where he graduated in 2016. He developed his pitching foundation in the Pumas program and drew early attention for his frame and arm strength, which would later help him generate swings and misses in the minor leagues.
After high school, Brieske spent two seasons playing college baseball at Glendale Community College in Arizona. He then transferred to Colorado State University Pueblo for his junior year, where he took on a full starting role on the staff.
Path to Professional Baseball
As a junior at Colorado State University Pueblo, Brieske started 14 games. He went 7–5 with a 5.42 ERA and 116 strikeouts over 79⅔ innings, showing the kind of swing-and-miss profile that professional scouts look for in developmental arms.
The Detroit Tigers selected Brieske in the 27th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft, with the 802nd overall pick. Although he was a late-round selection, Brieske signed with the Tigers and moved quickly through the lower levels of the minor leagues before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the 2020 season.
Beau Brieske Career
Early Career (2019–2021)
Brieske made his professional debut in 2019 with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Tigers. He was promoted late in the season to the Lakeland Flying Tigers of the High-A Florida State League. Across 20⅓ innings at the two levels, he went 3–1 with a 3.10 ERA, an encouraging start for a late-round college arm.
The 2020 minor league season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so Brieske did not pitch in a competitive game that year. He returned in 2021 with the High-A Central’s West Michigan Whitecaps and was promoted in late July to the Erie SeaWolves of the Double-A Northeast. Over 21 starts between the two clubs, Brieske went 9–4 with a 3.12 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 106⅔ innings, putting himself on the Tigers’ major league radar.
Detroit Tigers Debut and First MLB Seasons (2022–2023)
Brieske opened the 2022 season with the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens of the International League. After two starts with Toledo, Detroit selected his contract on April 22, 2022. He made his MLB debut the next day as the starting pitcher in a loss to the Colorado Rockies, allowing three hits and three runs over five innings with three strikeouts.
Brieske earned his first major league win on June 11, 2022, throwing 5⅔ scoreless innings in a 3–1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. His rookie season was cut short on July 21, when he was placed on the 15-day injured list with forearm soreness.
Brieske returned for spring training in 2023 but landed back on the injured list before Opening Day with the same arm issue. He was activated on July 7, 2023. In 25 games for Detroit that year, he posted a 3.60 ERA with 31 strikeouts and two saves across 35 innings, beginning his transition from starter to reliever.
Detroit Tigers Bullpen Role (2024–2025)
Brieske was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to begin the 2024 season. After being recalled, he went 4–5 with a 3.59 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 67⅔ innings for the Tigers. In the 2024 postseason, Brieske appeared in six of Detroit’s seven games, giving up only one hit (a two-run home run by Cleveland’s David Fry) over six innings of work.
On January 9, 2025, Brieske and the Tigers agreed to a one-year, $1.025 million contract, avoiding arbitration. In 22 appearances, including one start, he went 1–3 with a 6.55 ERA, 16 strikeouts, and one save over 22 innings. He was placed on the injured list on July 10 with right elbow soreness and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on September 12 with a right forearm strain diagnosis.
Return to the Tigers (2026)
At the start of the 2026 season, Brieske was diagnosed with an adductor strain and opened the year on the 60-day injured list. He returned to the active roster on May 29, 2026, and rejoined a Tigers bullpen that has leaned on his experience from the 2024 postseason run.
Notable Events and Milestones
Brieske’s signature early moment came on June 11, 2022, when he recorded his first major league win with 5⅔ scoreless innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. He also became a trusted October arm in 2024, pitching in six of Detroit’s seven postseason games and allowing just one hit across six innings of work.

Beau Brieske Family
Family Background and Personal Life
Brieske was raised in Gilbert, Arizona, where he attended Perry High School alongside the local community that shaped his early baseball years. Publicly available details about his parents, siblings, spouse, and children are limited, and the Brieske family has generally stayed out of the spotlight during his professional career.
2025 Season Performance
The 2025 season was a difficult year for Brieske. He and the Tigers settled on a one-year, $1.025 million contract in January to avoid arbitration, but he struggled to a 1–3 record and a 6.55 ERA across 22 innings in 22 appearances (one start), recording 16 strikeouts and one save. His role in the bullpen shrank as the season progressed.
Brieske’s year was interrupted by injuries. He went on the injured list on July 10 with right elbow soreness and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on September 12 with a right forearm strain, ending his regular-season work for 2025 and complicating his availability into the offseason.
Despite the rough stat line, Brieske remained a respected member of the Detroit clubhouse heading into 2026, with the Tigers continuing to invest in his development. His return from the injured list in late May 2026 was an early test of whether the adjustments made behind the scenes could translate back to the major league mound for the rest of the year.
