Robert John Seymour was born in St. John, Indiana, where he developed a passion for baseball at a young age. He attended Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, where he excelled on the baseball team. After being drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays, Seymour signed with the team and made his professional debut with the Florida Complex League Rays, where he appeared in eight games. In 2022, he played for the Charleston RiverDogs, where he continued to impress, hitting .281 with 12 home runs and 73 RBI over 95 games. His performance in 2023 was even more remarkable, as he played with the Complex League Rays, Bowling Green Hot Rods, and Montgomery Biscuits, batting .313 with 17 home runs and 55 RBI over 79 games. Seymour’s consistent performance earned him a promotion to the Triple-A Durham Bulls in 2024, where he hit .281 with 28 home runs and 95 RBI across 123 appearances.

Breakthrough (2025)

Seymour returned to the Durham Bulls to start the 2025 season, where he batted .263/.327/.553 with thirty home runs and 87 RBI over 105 games. His outstanding performance led to him being named the Rays’ Minor League Player of the Year. On August 15, 2025, Seymour was selected to the 40-man roster and made his Major League Baseball debut that night. In a unique twist, he shared the field with two other players named Seymour, including his former teammate Carson Seymour. In his rookie season with the Tampa Bay Rays, Seymour recorded his first MLB hit on August 17, an infield single, and hit his first MLB home run on August 20 against the New York Yankees.
