Bryce Huff Bio
Bryce Huff (born April 17, 1998) is an American professional football defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Memphis Tigers. Huff has also played for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.
Early Life and Background
Bryce Huff was born in Mobile, Alabama, and spent a few years in Opelika, Alabama, before returning to Mobile. He attended St. Paul’s Episcopal School, where he excelled in football. As a senior, he was named first-team All-State after recording 93 tackles and seven sacks. Initially, Huff committed to play college football at South Alabama but later changed his commitment to the University of Memphis.
Path to American Football
At the University of Memphis, Bryce Huff played primarily on special teams during his true freshman year. He became more involved in the pass rush rotation as a sophomore, making three starts and finishing the season with 30 tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks. As a junior, he recorded 49 tackles, leading the team with 9.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss, earning second-team All-American Athletic Conference honors. He continued to impress in his senior year, leading the Tigers again with 6.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss, securing another second-team All-AAC selection.
Bryce Huff Career
Early Career (2020–2023)
Bryce Huff signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 6, 2020, shortly after the conclusion of the NFL draft. He was part of the Jets’ initial 53-man roster by September 5, 2020, and made his NFL debut on September 27, 2020, against the Indianapolis Colts. In Week 6 of the same season, he recorded his first career sack against Ryan Fitzpatrick of the Miami Dolphins. Huff entered the 2021 season as a starting linebacker for the Jets, but his season was cut short due to a back injury that placed him on injured reserve. He was activated again in December 2021.
Breakthrough (2024)
On March 13, 2024, Bryce Huff signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, he faced a setback with a torn ligament in his groin area, causing him to miss five weeks. He was activated from injured reserve on December 28, 2024, and despite being inactive for the Super Bowl, he won the title when the Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40–22 in Super Bowl LIX.
