Early Life and Background

César Salazar was born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico. He moved to Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 16, where he attended Sahuaro High School. As a youth, Salazar participated in various sports, including soccer and tennis, but he ultimately focused on baseball. In his senior year of high school in 2015, he earned the Hal Eustice Award for baseball player of the year after an impressive season, hitting .612 in 62 at-bats, with 16 runs batted in and 4 home runs. Following high school, he attended the University of Arizona, where he played college baseball for the Arizona Wildcats. During his college career, he also played summer baseball for the La Crosse Loggers in the Northwoods League and the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

In 2022, he spent most of the year with Corpus Christi, finishing the season with Sugar Land, where he hit .265 with 16 home runs and 60 runs batted in over 102 games.
