Radunz holds the Becker High School shot put record at 57 feet 7 inches. As a two-year starter at both offensive tackle and defensive end, he contributed significantly to his high school football team’s success, leading them to a remarkable 25-1 record and back-to-back state championships. His outstanding performance earned him several accolades, including being named the All-Area Football Player of the Year by the St. Cloud Times and the East Central District North Division Most Valuable Player. He finished his high school career with an impressive total of 163 tackles, including 14 sacks. Following his high school success, Radunz committed to play college football at North Dakota State University.
Path to American Football
At North Dakota State, Dillon Radunz redshirted his true freshman year. He was named a starter for his freshman season but unfortunately suffered a season-ending knee injury after just 17 snaps in the season opener. Despite this setback, he bounced back and was named second-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) as a redshirt sophomore, starting 15 games. In his junior year, Radunz played 682 snaps, achieving 63 knockdowns and allowing zero sacks in 12 regular-season games. Radunz made his first career start at left tackle in Week 16 of the 2021 season, stepping in for an injured Taylor Lewan. He appeared in 12 games during his rookie season, demonstrating his potential as a valuable player on the offensive line. In the 2022 season, Radunz entered as a backup guard behind Aaron Brewer and Nate Davis. He played in 11 games at both guard positions due to injuries, making four total starts. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL and was placed on injured reserve on December 22, 2022.
