After completing his collegiate career, Dominic Toninato signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Colorado Avalanche on August 17, 2017. He began the 2017–18 season with the Avalanche’s AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage. Toninato made his professional debut on October 7, 2017, and quickly made an impact by scoring his first two professional goals in a game against the Texas Stars.
