Dominique Petrie was born on January 21, 2001, in Hermosa Beach, California. She is the daughter of David and Jo Anne Petrie. Petrie’s brother, Guy, also played collegiate hockey at the University of Utah, which inspired her to pursue the sport. Throughout her youth career, she played with boys and was coached by Craig Johnson while with the L.A. Junior Kings. Petrie also played for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and the San Diego Jr. Gulls, where her determination and willingness to take on challenges, including fights on the ice, were noted by her coaches.
