Gage Tater Workman (born October 24, 1999) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Detroit Tigers organization. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. He made his MLB debut in 2025.
Early Life and Background
Gage Workman was born and raised in the United States. He attended Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona, where he developed his skills in baseball. During his high school career, he played alongside notable players and showcased his talent on the field. Originally set to graduate in 2018, Workman reclassified to the class of 2017. In 2017, he had an impressive batting average of .396, which caught the attention of scouts. Following his high school career, he chose to play college baseball at Arizona State University instead of signing with the Milwaukee Brewers, who selected him in the 14th round of the 2017 MLB draft.

Workman continued to excel in his sophomore year, slashing .330/.413/.528 with eight home runs and 42 RBI, earning honorable mentions for the All-Pac-12 team. He returned to the Cape Cod League for another season, where he was named a league all-star. In his junior year, he faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but still managed to compile a batting line of .250/.316/.471 before the season was cut short.

Gage Workman was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round as the 102nd overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft. However, he did not play in any games that year due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the pandemic. In 2021, he began his professional career with the Lakeland Flying Tigers in the Low-A Southeast, where he demonstrated his potential by slashing .256/.357/.426 with three home runs and 19 RBI over 51 games. His performance earned him a promotion to the West Michigan Whitecaps in July 2021, where he continued to develop his skills.
