Jalen Reeves-Maybin was born in Clarksville, Tennessee, to LaDawn Reeves and Marques Maybin. He attended Northeast High School, where he played football and contributed as a quarterback. During his senior year, he gained over 2,000 rushing yards and was named an All-State selection on defense in 2012 by the Tennessee Sports Writers. His high school performance laid the foundation for his future in football. After high school, Reeves-Maybin committed to play college football at the University of Tennessee under head coach Butch Jones.
