Early Life and Background

Jedrick Wills grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, where he attended Lafayette High School. During his high school career, he was recognized as a first-team All-State player by the Associated Press in both his junior and senior years. His impressive skills earned him an invitation to play in the Under Armour All-America Game. Rated as the top college prospect in Kentucky, Wills committed to play college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide, choosing them over offers from prestigious programs such as Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee, and Notre Dame.

Path to American Football

At the University of Alabama, Wills made an immediate impact on the football program. He appeared in 11 games as a true freshman, starting one game when the Crimson Tide opened against Ole Miss with a unique six-linemen formation. By his sophomore season, he was named the starting right tackle and played a pivotal role in the team’s success, starting all 15 games. His performance earned him recognition as the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Offensive Lineman of the Week during a game against Missouri. Jedrick Wills was selected by the Cleveland Browns as the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He made his professional debut in the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens, although he had to leave the game due to a minor shin injury. In Week 10 of his rookie season, Wills showcased his talent by winning the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award after helping the Browns’ offense achieve 231 rushing yards and a touchdown against the Houston Texans. This achievement made him the first offensive lineman to win the award since 2013.
