Jonathon Brooks was born in Hallettsville, Texas, where he attended Hallettsville High School. During his senior year, he showcased his exceptional talent by accumulating 3,530 rushing yards and scoring 62 touchdowns on 295 carries. His impressive high school performance led him to commit to the University of Texas at Austin to continue his football career.

Path to American Football

At the University of Texas, Jonathon Brooks began his college football journey as a true freshman in 2021. He played in four games, recording 21 carries for 143 yards and a touchdown. As a redshirt freshman, he played in seven games behind notable running backs Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson, finishing the season with 197 rushing yards on 30 carries and five touchdowns. With both Robinson and Johnson entering the NFL in 2023, Brooks seized the opportunity to take on a more prominent role in the Longhorns’ offense.

Following this successful season, Brooks declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Carolina Panthers.

Breakthrough (2024-Present)

Jonathon Brooks was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, with the 46th overall pick. Unfortunately, he began his rookie season on the reserve/non-football injury list due to a torn ACL he suffered in college. After recovering, he was activated on November 6, 2024. However, in Week 14 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Brooks suffered another non-contact injury, tearing his right knee ACL again. On May 8, 2025, he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, ruling him out for the entire 2025 season.
