Born on February 15, 1996, in Shelby Township, Michigan, Jacobs has established himself as a notable player in the world of ice hockey, showcasing his skills on various teams throughout his career.

Early Life and Background

Joshua Jacobs grew up in Shelby Township, Michigan, where he developed a passion for ice hockey at a young age. He began his journey in the sport by playing for the Detroit Honeybaked U16 program in the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League (T1EHL), which laid the foundation for his future in professional hockey. His early exposure to competitive play and coaching helped shape his skills and understanding of the game. Jacobs’ talent was recognized early on, leading to his selection in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection Draft, where he was picked 72nd overall by the Sarnia Sting.

Path to Hockey

After being drafted by the Sarnia Sting, Jacobs opted to continue his development in the United States Hockey League (USHL) instead of joining the OHL immediately. He joined the Indiana Ice for the 2012–13 season, where he made a significant impact by contributing 23 points in 56 games, helping the team secure the Clark Cup. Following this successful stint, Jacobs committed to playing collegiate hockey at Michigan State University in the Big Ten Conference. During his freshman season in 2014–15, he registered nine assists across 35 games and earned a selection to the Conference All-Rookie Team. However, he decided to conclude his collegiate career early and returned to the major junior ranks, signing with the Sarnia Sting in June 2015.
