Early Life and Background

Julian Good-Jones was born on March 2, 1997, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, where he was recognized as one of the top offensive line prospects in Iowa. During his senior year, he was named first-team all-state and co-offensive most valuable player of the district, contributing to his team’s impressive average of over 40 points and 280 rushing yards per game.

Good-Jones was a three-star recruit and chose to play college football at Iowa State University over offers from several other schools, including Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, and Oregon State. He began his college career in 2015 as a redshirt and quickly established himself as a key player on the team.

Path to American Football

In his second year at Iowa State, Julian Good-Jones started 11 games at right tackle, helping the team average 421.6 yards of offense per game. His performance earned him first-team academic all-conference honors. The following year, he transitioned to center and started all 13 games, receiving honorable mention all-conference recognition.

Good-Jones continued to excel, starting all but one game at left tackle in 2018 and earning honorable mention All-Big 12 for the second consecutive season. As a senior in 2019, he started 12 games at left tackle and was named first-team all-conference. His streak of 49 consecutive starts was the longest in Iowa State history and among the longest in Football Bowl Subdivision history.

Early Career (2020)

Calgary Stampeders (2021–2022)

In 2021, Good-Jones signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He made an immediate impact, appearing in seven regular-season games and one postseason game. In 2022, he returned to the Stampeders and started 15 games, contributing to the team’s success as they led the league in offensive performance, allowing only 17 sacks and averaging 6.4 yards per rush.

Philadelphia Eagles (Second Stint) (2023)

After the 2022 CFL season, Good-Jones received a tryout with the Philadelphia Eagles and was signed to a future contract in January 2023. He was waived on August 29, 2023, but re-signed to the practice squad shortly thereafter.

Washington Commanders (2023–Present)

On November 7, 2023, Julian Good-Jones was signed by the Washington Commanders from the Eagles’ practice squad. He made his debut in the 2023 season, playing two snaps in the season finale against the Dallas Cowboys. Good-Jones was waived by the team on August 27, 2024, but joined their practice squad the following day. He signed a reserve/future contract with the Commanders on January 28, 2025.
