Early Life and Background

Katherine O’Kane was raised in Seattle, Washington. She began her soccer journey at a young age, playing for the Reign FC academy. O’Kane comes from an athletic family; both of her parents were athletes at Dartmouth College, with her mother competing in cross-country skiing and her father playing football. She attended Bishop Blanchet High School, where she made a significant impact on the soccer team. As a freshman, she helped the team reach the state semifinals for the first time in over two decades and earned All-Metro and All-State honors for her performance. After her time at the University of Utah, O’Kane played for Oakland Soul SC in the USL W League during the summer before her senior year. The team finished second in their division and advanced to the playoffs. Upon returning to Utah, she was part of the first Utes squad to compete in the Big 12 Conference, where she scored the team’s first-ever victory in the conference against Arizona State. O’Kane’s senior season saw her play in all 19 games, finishing second on the team in both goals and assists.
