Early Life and Background

Kendrick Green was born on December 22, 1998, in Peoria, Illinois. He grew up in a sports-oriented environment and attended Peoria High School, where he was an active member of the baseball, football, and wrestling teams. During his senior year, Green excelled in football, earning first-team All-State honors after recording impressive statistics, including 113 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and four forced fumbles. His performance helped Peoria win the 2016 IHSA 5A state championship. Following high school, Green committed to play college football at the University of Illinois, choosing it over an offer from Iowa.

Path to American Football

At the University of Illinois, Kendrick Green redshirted his true freshman season and transitioned from defensive tackle to offensive line. He made an immediate impact, starting all 12 games at left guard as a redshirt freshman. In his second season, he continued to excel, starting every game at left guard and earning honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference recognition. As a redshirt junior, Green showcased his adaptability by starting three games at center and five games at guard during the COVID-19 shortened 2020 Big Ten season. His outstanding performance earned him first-team All-Big Ten honors and a second-team All-American designation by USA Today.
