Early Life and Background

Kristofer Bubic was born on August 19, 1997, in Cupertino, California. He has Croatian ancestry through both of his parents. Bubic attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California, where he played both football and baseball, graduating in 2015. During his junior year, he achieved an impressive 8–2 record with a 0.89 earned run average (ERA). In his senior year, he compiled a 1.20 ERA and struck out 82 batters over 70 innings pitched. After high school, he enrolled at Stanford University to further his education and pursue a career in baseball.

Path to Baseball

At Stanford University, Bubic played for the Stanford Cardinal baseball team. As a freshman in 2016, he had a record of 0–3 with a 3.26 ERA in 21 games, including six starts. In 2017, he improved significantly, starting 15 games and achieving a 7–6 record with a 2.79 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 90 innings.
