Lagos Kunga was born in Luanda, Angola, before his family relocated to Russia, where they lived until he was seven years old. Early Career (2017-2018)
Kunga’s professional career started when he signed with Atlanta United in June 2017, officially joining the team for the 2018 season. He was loaned to the United Soccer League side Charleston Battery for the remainder of the 2017 season. Kunga made his professional debut as a substitute in a U.S. Open Cup match against Miami FC. He later made his first official appearance for Atlanta United 2, the club’s second team, on March 24, 2018.
Breakthrough (2018-2020)
Kunga had a notable breakthrough during the 2018 USL season, scoring five goals in 31 appearances for Atlanta United 2, including a brace against the Richmond Kickers. His performance earned him recognition, but after the 2020 season, he was released by Atlanta United. Kunga then joined Memphis 901 on loan, where he made 20 appearances and scored one goal.
