Early Life and Background

Lauren Gogal was born in Annandale, Virginia, and raised in Haymarket, Virginia. She began playing soccer at the age of five for the Virginia Soccer Association. Growing up, her soccer idol was Lionel Messi, and she often played up two age groups, which was a challenge due to her smaller stature compared to her peers. In 2017, she joined the inaugural girls’ team at Virginia Development Academy, where she earned ECNL all-conference honors in 2021. Gogal was homeschooled during high school and also took some classes at Northern Virginia Community College.

Gogal’s early exposure to soccer and her dedication to the sport led her to play for the Virginia Tech Hokies from 2021 to 2024. Gogal made her professional debut on August 19, 2025, when she started and played the full 90 minutes in the Spirit’s commanding 7–0 victory over Salvadoran club Alianza in the 2025–26 CONCACAF W Champions Cup group stage.
