Lucas Balthazar Niang is a French American professional football offensive tackle for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). Standing 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) and listed at 315 lb (143 kg), he plays a premium position along the offensive line. Niang played college football at TCU and was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. Coming out of high school, Niang was a highly recruited prospect with roughly 40 scholarship offers, including from TCU, Penn State, Auburn, Miami, and Georgia. He chose to enroll at TCU in 2016 and quickly worked his way into the rotation. He played in 12 of the Horned Frogs’ 13 games as a true freshman that fall, gaining valuable experience at an early age.

The Kansas City Chiefs selected Lucas Balthazar Niang in the third round with the 96th overall pick of the 2020 NFL draft. On August 6, 2020, he announced he would opt out of his rookie season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing him to continue his development away from the field.
