Luis Miguel Gil Bio
Luis Miguel Gil (born November 14, 1993) is an American professional soccer player currently playing for Spokane Velocity in USL League One. He has played for multiple clubs across Major League Soccer, Liga MX, and abroad, and has represented the United States at various youth levels and the senior national team.
Early Life and Background
Luis Gil was born in Garden Grove, California, to Mexican immigrant parents. He began playing soccer at the age of three, showing early promise in the sport. Gil attended IMG Soccer Academy in Bradenton, Florida, a U.S. Soccer Development Academy member, where he developed his skills as a youth player during 2008 and 2009.
Path to Soccer
Gil’s early exposure to competitive soccer at IMG Soccer Academy paved the way for his professional career. In February 2010, he signed a Generation Adidas contract with Major League Soccer, bypassing opportunities from European clubs. In December 2015, Gil signed with Liga MX club Querétaro. Limited playing time led to loan spells back in MLS with Orlando City and Colorado Rapids in 2017.
