Macey Kamryn Hodge (born May 4, 2001) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Angel City FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). She played college soccer for the Mississippi State Bulldogs and was named first-team All-American and SEC Midfielder of the Year in 2024. Hodge is recognized for her significant contributions to her college team, leading them to historic achievements during her tenure.
Early Life and Background
Macey Hodge was raised in Douglasville, Georgia, where she grew up with two sisters. Her mother, Kandi Vaughn, and her stepfather, Michael, played pivotal roles in her upbringing. Hodge began playing soccer at the age of eight with Southern Soccer Academy, showcasing her talent early on. She attended Robert S. Alexander High School, where she excelled in soccer, earning the title of most valuable player during her freshman, sophomore, and senior years. Hodge was rated as a two-star recruit by TopDrawerSoccer and committed to Vanderbilt University after her sophomore year. However, shortly before graduating high school in 2019, she made the difficult decision to quit soccer for her mental health, dealing with anxiety stemming from personal challenges, including her father’s struggles with addiction and her sister’s kidney disease diagnosis. After a brief hiatus, Hodge transferred to Mississippi State University in 2020 to resume her soccer career.

Upon joining the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Hodge worked diligently to regain her form. She made her debut in the 2020 season opener, coming off the bench, and subsequently started every other game that season, playing various positions including attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder, and center back. By her second season, she had earned the respect of her teammates and was voted one of the team captains. Hodge’s contributions were instrumental in the 2022 season, where she helped the Bulldogs secure their first NCAA tournament match win in program history.
