Early Life and Background

Madeleine Moreau was born in Youngsville, Louisiana. She attended St. Thomas More Catholic High School, where she excelled in soccer and basketball, winning back-to-back state high school titles in both sports in 2018 and 2019. In her senior year, she was honored as the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year for her outstanding performance in soccer. In addition to her achievements in soccer and basketball, Moreau also earned All-State honors in track and field, being part of a Louisiana state champion 4×400 meter relay team. Throughout her high school career, she was named All-State in each of her four seasons and was recognized as the district Most Valuable Player in three of those four years.

Path to Soccer

Moreau began her soccer journey at a young age, playing youth club soccer with Cajun Soccer Club. Her early exposure to competitive soccer laid the foundation for her future career. After high school, she attended Louisiana State University, where she played as a midfielder for the LSU Tigers. During her three seasons with the Tigers, she made 56 appearances, scored 3 goals, and registered 5 assists. Moreau served as team captain during her sophomore and junior seasons, leading her team to one of their best regular seasons in 2021, achieving a sixth overall ranking and qualifying for the NCAA Division I tournament.

Early Career (2018–2021)

Moreau’s professional career began in 2018 when she joined Baton Rouge United, a team in the Women’s Premier Soccer League. She was part of the inaugural roster and continued with the club for the 2019 season. Although the 2020 WPSL season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she returned to Baton Rouge United in 2021 when the club transitioned to the Gulf Coast Premier League, where they became champions in their first season. In 2022, she moved on to play with Cajun Rush Soccer Club for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Breakthrough (2024–Present)

Moreau’s breakthrough came when she was invited to join the preseason roster for Bay FC, an expansion team in the NWSL, despite not being selected during the 2024 NWSL Draft. She officially signed a contract with Bay FC on March 15, 2024, which included a one-year deal with an option for 2025. Moreau made her professional debut on April 20, 2024, as a substitute in a match against the Kansas City Current. She became the first player from Louisiana to appear in the NWSL. On May 1, 2024, she made her first NWSL start in a match against the Portland Thorns. During Bay FC’s participation in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup, Moreau earned a starting position in each match and scored her first two professional goals. She completed her rookie season with a total of 15 appearances across all competitions.
