Marquise Brown Bio
Marquise Brown (born June 4, 1997) is an American professional football wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Nicknamed “Hollywood”, he played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, receiving first-team All-American honors in 2018. He was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, where he spent his first three seasons. In his next two seasons, Brown was a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Brown joined the Chiefs in 2024.
Early Life and Background
Marquise Brown was born on June 4, 1997, in Hollywood, Florida. He played Pop Warner football in the same Florida league with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, although they were on different teams. Brown attended South Broward High School in Hollywood, where he also ran track. He later transferred to Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School, where he continued to excel in both football and track, achieving impressive times in the 100-meter and 200-meter events.
Path to American Football
After not receiving any scholarships from Division 1 schools, Brown signed with the College of the Canyons for the 2016 season. To support himself, he worked at Six Flags Magic Mountain, as California junior colleges do not offer sports scholarships. After a successful year at College of the Canyons, he received several Division 1 scholarship offers and committed to the University of Oklahoma. During his first year at Oklahoma, Brown played all thirteen games, starting eight, and led the team with 1,095 receiving yards, becoming the eighth all-time receiver in single-season yards for the program. He set an Oklahoma record with 265 receiving yards in a single game against Oklahoma State. On January 2, 2019, Brown announced that he would forgo his final year of eligibility to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft.

Early Career (2019–2021)
Marquise Brown was selected 25th overall by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, making him the first wide receiver selected that year. He signed his rookie contract on June 7, 2019. Brown made his regular season debut against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1, where he recorded four receptions for 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns. This performance made him the first player in NFL history to score two touchdowns of 40 yards or more in his first game. He finished his rookie season with 46 receptions for 584 yards and seven touchdowns, establishing himself as a key player for the Ravens.
Breakthrough (2021)
In 2021, Brown had a breakout season, changing his jersey number from #15 to #5 following a change in the NFL’s jersey number rules. He recorded a career-high 91 receptions for 1,008 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Notable performances included a game against the Kansas City Chiefs where he had six receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown, and another against the Indianapolis Colts where he caught a career-high nine receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns.
