Mary Stoiana was born on May 6, 2003, in Southbury, Connecticut, to Val Stoiana and Kathleen Morrone. Her father, Val, immigrated to the United States from Romania as a child and went on to play college tennis at St. John’s University, where he won a Big East doubles title in 1986 before launching a coaching career.
