Masashi Wada was born on 11 April 1997 in Yokohama, Japan. Standing 1.77 meters tall, he grew up in one of Japan’s most prominent footballing cities and developed his early interest in the sport through local youth programs.
Wada joined the Yokohama F. Marinos academy in 2010 at the age of 13. Over the next five years, he progressed through the club’s youth system, training in one of the J.League’s most respected development pipelines. Later in the season, on 17 September, he netted a hat trick against Richmond Kickers, one of the most memorable individual performances in the early history of the club.
Following the conclusion of the 2025 regular season, Wada was named to the USL League One All-League First Team, alongside Hearts of Pine teammate Nathan Messer. Shortly after, head coach Bobby Murphy announced that the club had renegotiated Wada’s contract, extending his stay for two additional seasons. In April 2026, Wada suffered a major lower leg injury during a home match that required surgery. The club announced he is not expected to play for the remainder of the 2026 season.
