Olivia Wade-Katoa was born in Kaysville, Utah, into a family of five children. Growing up in a sports-oriented household, she was exposed to athletics from a young age. Both of her parents were former collegiate basketball players, and her grandfather was a coach, which fostered a competitive spirit in her. Wade-Katoa attended Davis High School, where she excelled in soccer and played club soccer for La Roca FC. In 2016, she was recognized as Gatorade’s Utah Player of the Year and The Salt Lake Tribune’s player of the year. Her early achievements included being a five-time State Cup champion and winning the 2016 UYSA National Championship Golden Ball.

She scored her first collegiate goal in September 2018, netting a last-minute game-winner against the Utah Utes. After her freshman season, she took a break from soccer to serve as a missionary in Houston, Texas, returning to BYU in 2021.
