He was selected in the second round, 33rd overall, by the Canadiens in the 2022 NHL entry draft. Early Life and Background
Owen Beck was born in Port Hope, Ontario, Canada. Growing up in a hockey-loving community, he was exposed to the sport at a young age. Beck played with the Northumberland Nighthawks in the Ontario Hockey Federation and won a league championship during his peewee year. His early experiences in youth hockey laid the foundation for his future in the sport.
Path to Hockey
Beck joined the Quinte Red Devils AAA ranks for two seasons starting in 2018, where he honed his skills and developed a competitive edge. He briefly played with the Cobourg Cougars in the Ontario Junior Hockey League before committing to the Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the 2020–21 season. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he did not play that season. Beck’s professional career began in 2023 when he signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens. Prior to this, he had a successful junior season with the Steelheads, where he recorded 17 goals and 41 points in just 30 games before being traded to the Peterborough Petes.
