Peter Baum Bio
Peter Baum (born December 14, 1990) is an American professional lacrosse player. He played for Colgate University in Division I college lacrosse and is currently a member of the Redwoods Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League.
Early Life and Background
Peter Baum was born in Seattle, Washington, and grew up in Portland, Oregon. He is the son of Richard L. Baum, a former Colgate alumnus and lacrosse player, and Jill Baum. He has a brother and a sister. Baum began playing lacrosse at the age of 13 and attended Lincoln High School in Portland, where he became a three-year letterman and three-time All-Conference player.
During his high school career, he earned recognition as a high school All-American and was named to the First Team All-State in 2008 and 2009. In 2009, he was also recognized as an Under Armour All-American, showcasing his talent early on.
Path to Lacrosse
Baum attended Colgate University, where he majored in geography. He played for the Colgate Raiders from 2010 to 2013 and was a two-time All-American. In his freshman year, he was named to the All-Patriot League First Team and received the Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors three times.
In 2012, Baum had a standout season, leading the nation in scoring with a total of 67 goals, the sixth-highest single-season goal total in NCAA history. Early Career (2013-2017)
Peter Baum was selected as the number one pick in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Draft. However, he opted to sign with the LXM Pro Tour instead. He began his professional career with the Ohio Machine in 2014, where he quickly made a name for himself by scoring 35 goals, ranking third in the league that season. Baum was selected as an MLL All-Star from 2014 to 2017 and tied for the most points in the league in 2017 with a total of 52 points.
