Ryan Weathers was born on December 17, 1999. He attended Loretto High School in Loretto, Tennessee, where he excelled in baseball. As a junior in 2017, he achieved an impressive 8–0 record with a remarkable 0.14 earned run average (ERA) and struck out 111 batters in 49 innings. In his senior year, Weathers was named the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year after finishing with an 11–0 record and a 0.09 ERA, along with 148 strikeouts in 76 innings. Following high school, he committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University, furthering his development as a player.

Ryan Weathers was highly regarded as one of the top prospects leading up to the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. He was selected 7th overall by the San Diego Padres, signing with the team on July 1, 2018, for a signing bonus of $5,226,500. Weathers made his professional debut with the Arizona League Padres and later joined the Fort Wayne TinCaps, where he made seven starts with a 3.44 ERA. Ryan Weathers made his major league debut on October 6, 2020, during Game 1 of the National League Division Series, becoming one of the few players in MLB history to debut in the postseason. He made the Padres’ 2021 Opening Day roster and started his first career game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 16, 2021. That season, he finished with a 4–7 record and a 5.32 ERA over 30 games, including 18 starts.

In 2022, Weathers continued to develop his skills on the mound. He played a significant role for the Padres in the following seasons, contributing to the team’s pitching rotation.
