Early Life and Background

Tyler Guyton was born on June 11, 2001, in Austin, Texas. He grew up in Manor, Texas, where he attended Manor High School. During his time in high school, he played both football and basketball. Guyton primarily played as a defensive lineman for Manor High School, helping the team reach the state quarterfinals. He was recognized as a second-team All-District 11-5A selection. Ranked by 247Sports as a three-star recruit, he was considered the 145th-best player from Texas and ultimately committed to play college football for the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs.

Path to American Football

Guyton began his college football career at Texas Christian University in 2020, where he redshirted his freshman year, appearing in only one game. As a redshirt freshman in 2021, he played in eight games, starting one, while alternating between backup offensive lineman and H-back. He notably caught a touchdown pass in a game against Iowa State. In January 2022, he transferred to the University of Oklahoma to join the Oklahoma Sooners. In his first season with the Sooners, he started as a left tackle but transitioned to right tackle by the end of the season. He was drafted to succeed All-Pro Tyron Smith, who had left the team in free agency. Initially, his transition from college to professional football was challenging, as he began as a backup left tackle behind Chuma Edoga.
