Early Life and Background

Vincent James Capra was born on July 7, 1996. He attended Melbourne Central Catholic High School in Melbourne, Florida, where he played a significant role in leading the Hustlers to a state championship. Following high school, Capra began his college baseball career at Eastern Florida State College before transferring to the University of Richmond to play for the Richmond Spiders. In 2017, he had a standout season, batting .356 with four home runs and 19 runs batted in (RBIs) for the Spiders.

Path to Baseball

Capra’s journey in baseball continued as he played in the West Coast League for the Walla Walla Sweets during the summer. In his final season with the Spiders in 2018, he achieved impressive statistics, hitting .327 with five home runs, 41 RBIs, and nine stolen bases. Early Career (2018–2021)

Vinny Capra was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 20th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. He began his professional career with the Low-A Vancouver Canadians and later moved up to the Single-A Lansing Lugnuts. In 2019, he played for the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats, where he recorded a .229 batting average with three home runs and 33 RBIs. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted his 2020 season as he did not play in any games. However, in 2021, he rebounded with a strong performance, appearing in 79 games and achieving career-highs with a .316 batting average, 10 home runs, and 58 RBIs.

Breakthrough (2022)

Capra made his major league debut on May 1, 2022, after being promoted to the Toronto Blue Jays on April 29. During his time with the Blue Jays, he appeared in eight major league games, recording one hit and two walks. In the minors, he had a solid season with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, hitting .283 with five home runs and 28 RBIs in 52 games. However, his season was cut short due to an injury that required surgery.
