California Black Bears

Founded in 2021, California Black Bears quickly established itself as a competitive presence in the Major League Pickleball (MLP). Spearheaded by team owner Ritchie Tuazon, the Black Bears operate with a strategic and calculated approach to the game, ensuring they remain formidable contenders year after year.

Since its inception, the Black Bears have maintained an impressive DUPR team rating of 23.73, showing their skill and ability to challenge the very best teams in the league. Though relatively young in MLP terms, the team has shown consistent growth and resilience, earning respect from fans and competitors.

Tuazon’s leadership style has been instrumental in crafting a team culture that emphasizes teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to winning. While much of the pickleball world focuses on individual players, the Black Bears thrive on collaboration, combining individual strengths to outplay opponents in doubles matches and the team-format competitions that make MLP unique.
