Mota Alhouni
Mohaned “Mo” Alhouni is a rising star in professional pickleball, known for his athleticism, strong tennis background, and rapid ascent in the sport. Born and raised in Tripoli, Libya, he moved to Minnesota in 2011 during a period of political unrest in his home country. Since turning professional in 2023, Alhouni has quickly made a name for himself on the PPA Tour, achieving a singles ranking of #23, doubles ranking of #59, and mixed doubles ranking of #46 as of June 2025 .
Early Life
Mohaned Alhouni was born in Tripoli, Libya, and began playing tennis at a young age. He represented Libya in international competitions, including the 2013 Mediterranean Olympics in Turkey, and won 15 African championships in the Under-14 and Under-16 categories . In 2011, during a period of political protests and violence in Libya, his family relocated to Minnesota, USA, seeking better opportunities.
Family Life
Mohaned’s older brother, Motasem “Mota” Alhouni, is also a professional pickleball player. The two brothers share a strong bond, both having played collegiate tennis at Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota. Career
After moving to Minnesota, Mohaned continued his tennis career, becoming a five-time All-American and an ITA National Singles Champion in 2017 at Gustavus Adolphus College. He reached as high as #1 in Division III tennis . In May 2022, he was introduced to pickleball by friends and family and began playing recreationally. By February 2023, he entered his first professional tournament in Lakeville, Minnesota. Since then, he has been competing in several PPA tournaments and is quickly climbing up the rankings.
