Born on November 3, 1999, in Andover, Massachusetts, Ryan Michael Fu was introduced to tennis at a young age, influenced by his family’s involvement in the sport. He achieved significant success in his junior tennis career, being ranked No. 1 in New England across the 12s, 14s, and 16s age divisions, and reaching the top 50 nationally in the 18s category. Fu was also named the Merrimack Valley Conference High School MVP in 2015 and led Andover High School to a team championship that year.

Ryan’s mother, Lisa Albano-Fu, is a notable figure in tennis, having played at UC Berkeley from 1988 to 1992. She was a four-time All-American and a 1991 NCAA finalist . Growing up in such an environment fostered Ryan’s early interest and development in the sport.

Tennis Career
Fu attended the University of Michigan, where he played collegiate tennis from 2018 to 2022. During his time there, he compiled a singles record of 9-20 and a doubles record of 8-9. He was recognized for his academic achievements, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Transition to Pickleball
After completing his undergraduate studies, Fu pursued a Master’s in Business Administration at Bryant University. Encouraged by his longtime friend James Ignatowich, he began training full-time in pickleball and turned professional in 2024.
