Despite receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Southern California (USC), Querrey opted to turn professional, influenced by his father Mike’s encouragement to pursue a sports career—a path Mike himself had once considered in baseball. Sam Querrey turned professional in 2006 and enjoyed a successful tennis career until his retirement in 2022. He achieved a career-high ATP singles ranking of No. 11 on February 26, 2018, and won 10 ATP singles titles. Querrey was particularly known for his powerful serve, holding the record for 10 consecutive aces in a match.
