Pickleball Lehigh Valley to Host UPA Pennsylvania State Championships

Pickleball Lehigh Valley to Host UPA: The United Pickleball Association (UPA) will hold the Pennsylvania State Championship Series at Pickleball Lehigh Valley (PLV) from September 13-15. The event, set to take place at the new St. Luke’s SportsPlex, aims to identify the top amateur pickleball players in the state. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the St. Luke’s Rising Stars Fund, supporting children and families from underserved communities.

PLV is known for fostering fun, competition, and community connections through pickleball. The facility includes 12 hardcourt pickleball courts, 12 hardwood courts, and an Event Center, totaling 25 indoor courts. Additionally, PLV features a 22-court, 3-acre outdoor venue, making it one of the largest pickleball facilities on the East Coast.

“Pickleball Lehigh Valley is proud to host such a high-profile tournament,” said John Hauth, Senior Network Administrator, Sports Medicine Relationships. “This championship series is a first for the Lehigh Valley and the region, and we are excited to welcome players from across the state to our facility.”

The tournament will include skill levels ranging from 3.0 to 5.0, and age groups from 18U to 70+. Playing divisions will consist of Men’s Singles (MS), Women’s Singles (WS), Men’s Doubles (MD), Women’s Doubles (WD), and Mixed Doubles (MXD). Medalists will qualify for the elite Champions Division brackets, with the opportunity to advance to the UPA World Championships at the Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas, Texas, on November 4-10, 2024. State champions receive free registration to the World Championships, second place finishers receive 50% off, and third place finishers receive 33% off.

“This is a tournament we are thrilled to have at our facility,” said Deb Schlosser, Tournament Director at PLV. “For a few days, PLV and St. Luke’s SportsPlex will be pickleball central. The UPA World Championships is the ultimate pickleball event, and we are at the forefront of that popularity here in the Lehigh Valley.”

The event promises to be a highlight for the pickleball community, showcasing the sport’s rapid growth and the region’s premier facilities.
