Incident at Bogart Park

According to court documents, Bozeman Police responded to a call regarding a disturbance involving a weapon. Upon arrival, officers found Barthe, shirtless and near a bicycle on a nearby tennis court, after the victim identified him. The victim recounted that he was playing pickleball while his dog lay tethered in the corner of the fenced tennis court. Barthe allegedly began yelling at the dog, brandishing a folding box cutter and waving it menacingly. Fearing for his safety, the man grabbed his dog and attempted to flee from Barthe, who continued to curse and yell.

Police Confrontation and Arrest

When officers approached Barthe, he reportedly escalated the situation by yelling and cursing at them. As they attempted to control him, Barthe resisted, swinging his arms and grabbing at a female officer’s vest and equipment. During the struggle, an officer deployed a taser, ultimately subduing Barthe.

Even after being transported to the hospital, Barthe’s aggressive behavior persisted. He continued to yell, threaten, and curse at officers and medical staff, including doctors and nurses.
