New Pickleball Courts at Webster Street Park: BINGHAMTON – Pickleball enthusiasts in Binghamton will soon have new facilities to enjoy on the south side of the city. Mayor Jared Kraham announced on Thursday that the installation of six new pickleball courts at Webster Street Park is underway.
Project Details
The new pickleball courts are set to replace two unused tennis courts. Construction began earlier this week and is projected to take up to 10 days. Following construction, the courts will need a 30-day curing period before they are painted. Residents can look forward to using the new facilities by early October.
Community Demand
“I regularly hear from residents across the City who want more places to play pickleball in Binghamton,” said Kraham. “The Parks Department has been working in real time to meet the growing demand, adding more than a dozen pickleball courts to our parks in recent years. These new courts at Webster Street Park will provide residents of all ages with more opportunities to get outside and enjoy all our parks have to offer.”
Financials
The total cost for the project is approximately $135,600, funded from the General Fund budget. Currently, Binghamton hosts 16 pickleball courts spread across MacArthur Park, Recreation Park, Valley Street, and West End Park.
