Fall Round-Up Pickleball Tournament: The Calgary Pickleball Club is set to host its much-anticipated Fall Round-Up pickleball tournament on Saturday, September 7, 2024, offering a final opportunity to enjoy outdoor pickleball before the season turns. This one-day tournament promises an exciting mix of competition across multiple skill levels and age divisions.
Mixed Doubles and Singles Showdown
The tournament will feature Mixed Doubles play with two age divisions: 12-55+ and 55+, and four skill levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5+. In addition, Men’s and Women’s Singles will cater to players aged 30 and above. Each event will follow a round-robin format, ensuring that all participants get ample court time.
The matches will be played as one game to 15 points, with a win by 2 rule. Playoffs will follow the same format, with the Gold/Silver match requiring a best-of-three series to 11 points, also with a win by 2 rule. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each event, highlighting the competitive spirit of the day.
Venue and Logistics
The event will take place at the Oakridge Community Association, located at 9504 Oakfield Drive SW, Calgary, Alberta. With 14 outdoor courts available, players will enjoy a spacious and dynamic setting. The courts are non-covered, so players should be prepared for the elements, and the event will use Franklin X balls. Parking at the venue is free, adding to the convenience for participants.
Tournament Rules and Flexibility
The tournament will adhere to the current USAP International Rules, with sanctioning still pending. The Tournament Director has the authority to combine, modify, or cancel events and skill levels as necessary, including adjustments due to unforeseen circumstances. Players are reminded that their spot in the tournament is only guaranteed once both partners are registered and payment is complete.
In case of rain, the event has a designated rain date set for Saturday, September 14, 2024. The flexibility in scheduling and the Tournament Director’s final say in match conflicts ensures a smooth and fair competition for all.
